Monday 26th July mileage 1550 Hirtshals northern Denmark

Weather fine all day.

Decided to get on and make my way to the ferry for Norway.  Took it easy all day. The Danes are more speed concious than the Germans, and behave the laws.  Eventually arrived at the ferry terminal at 15:30 and was told that I had just missed the ferry by 15 mins and would have to wait for the next ferry at 01:15.  so I have returned here to Aalborg and found an internet cafe.  looks like I will not get any sleep tonight, so should only do a small mileage tomorrow before camping up and resting.  Looking forward to the roads amongst the Fiords and off the motorways.

Need to go now so will edit this post later.

  1. Sounds like you are having a fantastic time with some great stories to tell. When I was taking lessons the Instructor drummed it into me to always use the life saver observations which I am pleased to see you are.
Pleased to see you are finding campsites are good to use and hope you meet some interesting people on your travels.
If you get bored with retirement I bet you could always find work as a courier or pizza delivery boy but only with the sole use of a back box and strictly no panniers.
    Take Care and enjoy it.

  2. Excellent write up Geoff, keep it coming.

Did you read the news the other night:

"The Borough of London had to dispatch their Bio-logical Emergency Response" team to deal with the recovery of a large pair of under crackers that had skidded to a halt in the fast lane of the M25. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but many passers by were deeply emotionally affected."

  3. Just read everything so far and have to say that it seems like you've progressed somewhat from the CBT you did with me.
Pannier tip - if the mirrors won't go through the gap then the panniers wont either .......except for....taxis , buses , german drivers etc etc
