Wednesday 4th August mileage 3872 30Km south of Ivalo Finland

Weather good all day until evening then started to rain.
Hotel room at Lakselv too warm, tried to switch off radiator but already on minimum setting.  After sumtuous meal last night watched a thriller on Norwegian TV called 15 minutes starring Robert De Niro as a cop.  Good because I didn't have to read the subtitles.
Woke about 8:00 and after shower and breakfast of cereal, eggs, bread chees etc all ready to set off.
As I am getting all my gear on at the bike I noticed a little girl (about 4-5) trying to cross the main road at a pedestrian crossing.  Eventually a car pulled up and a woman got out spoke to the girl and helped her across the road.  The traffic all moved on and the little girl just wandered up and down the other side of the road looking confused and unsure what to do next.  I went into the adjacent petrol station and told the girl behind the till to come and see if this little girl is ok. When we came back outside the girl had managed to cross back over the busy road and was wandering off towards some caravans paerked about 200mts away.  The girl from the petrol station said she would check that she was ok and had parents somewhere.  I set off headed south on the E6 road towards Finland.
After a short while ( 60km) crossed the border into Finland.  I could not remember what the currencyn for Finland was so I decided tio buy some petrol on my card and this should let me know.  So at next petrol station I bought some petrol on my card and when the amount came up I said to the guy is this in Euro? In perfect english he sarcastically replied to me "Yes it is euros in Finland and it has been since 2001" !!
Carried on undaunted by his sarcasm and eventually arrived at a place called Ivalo.  Stopped again to see if I could get a cable that fites my Ipod.  No luck so asked if there was a library and sure enough they allow unlimmited access to the internet, so updated blog and emails for a couple of hours whilst resting my bum from the motorbike.   Nice to read the comments from people saying they were finding the journey blog interesting, and almost as if they were doing the jopurney with me.  After library went back to supermarket for food because have decided to camp, ass cannot keep affording these expensive hotels. Although I looked on the internet and my JM shares have risen back up to £17.50.  keep at it all you JM employees I need the money !!

back on way and after about 30Km it started to rain.  I looked at my watch which said 17:30 so I assumed it was 18:30 as in Norway, however as you may not know as you go south into Finland apparently you change another time zone and it was really 19:30.  Stopped at a cabin site and decided not to camp but get cabin.  here is a picture of my bike outside my cabin with a wooden wigwam style building beside the river.  The other photo is of my neighbour who has a fatboy Harley Davidson.  I bet he was looking outside his window all night saying " I wish I had an orange Suzuki" !!

Meal was saklmon soup with compulsory bread.

Off to bed early for early start again.  Owner says there is a storm expected 400Km south about 14:00 hrs. Sounsds exactly where I will be.
