Up had breakfast and at 10am June and Jenny joined us at the hotel and we set off to see a friend of Jenny´s called Maria who lived way over the other side of Slovinia right next to the Croatian border. The journey took about 1.5 hrs and then we arrived at a tiny village where Maria lived.
When we arrived Maria´s neice Petra was also there visiting
She has a nice old country house alongside a farm, and grows all her own produce and makes her own wine!
The outstanding memory from the visit is Maria´s generous hospitality and also her refusal to let anyone help her in the kitchen.
After a beautiful lunch of vegatable soup and then chicken with salad and wine we all went and visited Maria´s vinyard. She owned a lot of land that is given over to making wine and in fact her greatest problem now is finding the help at harvest time in making the wine.
Later that evening we all went to the very modern and updated thermal baths close by and swam in the indoor and outdoor pools, also having a ber whilst lazing in the water.
Back to Maria´s and a beantiful supper and Savi and I went and stayes at the B&B we had arranged just around the corner.
More later
