Slept well in the single bed in the room. Up around 8am and down for breakfast of coffee, croisant, bread and jams.
Fitted the sheepskin to the seat of the motorbike. The stretchy elastic sheet fastener catches that the woman in Ljubljana had suggested worked really well and the sheepskin looks like it has been tailored to fit.
It feels softer on the bum, but not sure it will make any great difference, will just have to see, however I do now have a bespoke V-strom !!
Set6 off towrads the St Goddard Pass and on the way saw a huge pipeline coming down from way up in the mountain. Now thats the way top generate pressure for hydro-electricity. Notice the pipes increase to four pipes on the last section low down. This will be because the pressure is higher and the pipe specification will have required thicker walled pipes.
The St Goddard Pass was a joy to ride, wide roadways with sweeping bends and great views. Stopped at one point and took a short video to capture the sounds of the cowbells as the cows grazed on the hillside. Also there was gunshots and the echo was great.
Views at the top were magnificent!
Then down into Andermatt where I found an internet cafe to update the blog and also had lunch.
In the afternoon set tomtom for Lausanne and went over the Furkapass. This was another fantastic ride up to 2436 metres, with great views.
No incidents on the road today, just a couple of major traffic jams but I am keeping to my promise to myself not to weave in between the traffic (like all the other bikers!!)
Found an hotel on the road between Brig and Sion at a small village called Chippis. Went for a stroll late at night around Chippis and the only thing of interest was the church, so here it is!!
More later

Hi Geoff - back to civilisation again then....
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling on the Grosglockner - I couldn't feel my fingers and struggled to get my sopping gloves off to pay the 18 Euros to ride through a thunderstorm and thick mist at low speed. It added insult to injury!
Nice sheepskin!!
Cheers
